Ancient Roman Vineyards – The Wines Of Ribeira Sacra

It was a fantastic weekend exploring Ribeira Sacra participating in the 3as Xornadas de ports abertas nas rutas dos viños de Galicia an incredible two days touring some of Galicia’s most famous and most beautiful wine region cultivated by the Romans where even today the ancient practicing of growing, cultivating and harvesting are done in traditional style along with a little help of modern technology to make for the perfect combination of man working with nature to create some truly fantastic wines.

The centuries of hard work preparing the steep mountain ridges all taking advantage of the micro-climate unique to Ribeira Sacra – it’s name means sacred area near the river and this is something you can see and feel for yourself.  It is a magical area with one breathtaking view after another along with its delicious wines of Mencía – vino tinto,  Albariño, and Godello vino blancos.

A very special thank you to Marfe, Beatriz, Maria, and Kris for making such a wonderful tour of your beautiful area – we look forward to seeing you again and to discovering more of Ribeira Sacra and it’s fantastic wines. It was a real pleasure to share in this fun VINO Gastro Camino adventure with Stacy – here’s to your next visit and more fun travels in Galicia.
